We had a fantastic time at the World Commerce and Contracting Americas Summit! I have been in the CLM industry for over 17 years and I still get excited for these industry events. Its always great to be in person networking with contracting professionals and knowing them over the years.
A lot happened in the two days that the summit took place. Here are some highlights:
We won battle of the tech!
An exciting part of the show for me was the "Battle of the Tech". This is where 3 CLM vendors presented a two-minute video demonstration of their solution to a panel of three Contract Gurus. These gurus, who are thought leaders and experts in the contracting space, fired off a series of questions to each presenter and dig into the "tech". The presenter then answers for 10 minutes. Not knowing what they will ask, is the best part and kept me on my toes while on stage!
Malbek teaser video showcased was a huge hit, particularly with our popular animated characters blended with system features that the audience enjoyed. From our Google or Amazon-like search, to our self-service approach to configuration in a no-code platform, to our AI-driven playbook: we shared highlights of what makes Malbek different.
Being questioned by the judges for ten minutes straight could get stressful, but thats when I bring out my zen mindset. Answering their questions with honesty, integrity, transparency and confidence was well received by judges and the audience.
At the end of it all, people voted: Malbek wins by a significant margin! Sigh of relief and sense of satisfaction as I walk off the stage.
Presenting with my BFF
Allison Ramirez of EDF Renewable and I often laugh about our BFF status and we publicly announced it during our joint presentation on stage at the WCC Summit. As our customer for years, we presented the EDFR case study on CLM and her Malbek journey. Forget the stuffy presentations that put people to sleep. In true Malbek fashion, we had a fun session where Allison and I had the audience laughing and enjoying our presentation from start to finish.
It was also great to hear the "off-script" comments that she brought to the table. At one point in the presentation, she told the audience about how Matt Patel did the demo for her and saying "where have you been all my life". Lets just say there was a lot of laughter in the room.
Overall, it was great to see the contracting community come together after 2 years of online events. Thank you to the WorldCC for making this happen, and I can't wait for next year!
